Hello!! and welcome to Simply Being Me by Brenda Bowen. You've guessed it, I'm Brenda!!

I'm hoping that this space can serve as a stage for all of us kick butt Mamas' that "appear" to have it all together. A space where woman can come together and empower each other through this journey called life accompanied by it's ups and downs. We can share ideas, stories, fashion, recipes, crafts and success stories (including not so great ones).

Let's start with a little bit about myself.

I'm a first time mom at age 37, of a handsome 3 year old boy named Emilio. Wow! did he flip our lives upside down! God knew what he was doing when he chose us to be older parents to this little guy. My husband Cortney and I will be married for 9 years this coming July 2020. We currently live in Georgia, but originally from Cleveland Ohio.

Well, Cortney and I "supposedly" met in college... supposedly, you might ask? YES! Why?? because I do not recall meeting him. He introduced himself to me, We took an African American history course together, We sat next to each other and he had a crush on me. I do not recall ANY of this. Pretty bad, but, I take it that God perhaps knew I wasn't ready to meet "the one". We both went our separate ways, I transferred to a Cleveland State University to pursue a Bachelors in Social Work and a Masters in Education in school counseling. Cortney obtained his degrees in computer and technology. Six or seven years went by and our paths crossed through a mutual friend. Although I did not remember Cortney, the name rang a bell. It was an instant connection and his smile was unforgettable. Fast forward to today, 1 child, 1 Yorky named Lola and living in Georgia, BAM! That's where we are at now!

Why a blog? Well, why not?!

I am not a social butterfly, but I love people! I love connecting with people and listening. I spent a good 14+ years of my career doing just that. When Emilio arrived (a story all on its own that I will share at a different time,) we were blessed that I had the option to stay at home with him. Ya'll.... that was hard (again, another story for another time.) I'm a busy body and I have always loved fashion, therefor, I created Simply B Boutique (Go follow me on FB and Instagram). Every week at Simply B Boutique, I launch a new item of fashion or beauty tips for all of us busy woman. I create videos explaining the items, we go shopping together, etc... but, I was missing that connection. I needed more. So I finally took the plunge in creating this blog. My goal is to someday have meeting groups, outings and etc. Woman need other woman, because at times, we are the only ones that can fully understand each other. Let's empower each other instead of pointing out our faults. Let's do this thing called life together. Let's be powerful woman raising powerful God fearing children. We've got this, now let's show the world how bad a** we are!
